Born in 1933, Franklin Weber, a lifetime resident of Manteno, IL, began his career as a pressman at the young age of eleven. While visiting relatives in the south side of Chicago, Weber had received his first press from near by neighbors and immediately became fascinated. Weber didn’t know it at the time, but that day, he had found his lifelong hobby.
By 1950, Weber had begun to establish a good name for himself in the printing world. He now had two presses, some steady workflow, and his own building to work in, an old chicken coop on the family farm. Doing jobs for the nearby schools, the village of Manteno, and a trucking company, Franklin made a little money and kept working hard until he could achieve his ultimate goal.
After over a little 20 years of hard work, in 1971, Weber built his official print shop on his family’s property and the rest is history. Since the opening of his print shop, it has become one of the most successful businesses to come out of Kankakee County.
